The word Serf is derived from the Latin word servus, meaning "slave” and goes all the way back to Feudalism during Middle Ages in Europe where individuals tirelessly labored in fields yet could never own the land for which they nurtured. Keys-loving residents often feel this second-class status. Our name is a reminder to our government that we are their citizens not their slaves. We have an expectation that our governments will work in the best interest of the people as government was created for the people and by the people.
